Field Visit (2010)

The Hydro-Electric Digitisation Project

This dam raised the level of Loch Ericht to provide reservoir storage and sufficient head for the powerhouse at Rannoch (see separate record). Unusually for hydropower Loch Ericht provides the storage for the baseload generation which characterises Rannoch station. The dam is of the gravity type over 1,400 feet long.
