Excavation (1951 - 1951)
In 1951 a sewer pipe trench was excavated in the vicinity of the Old Windsor site. F M Underhill, secretary of the Berkshire Archaeological Society, recorded the archeological features visible in this trench, which were then passed on to Brian Hope-Taylor in advance of the multi-season excavations at the site.

Excavation (1953 - 1958)
Between 1953 and 1958, Brian Hope-Taylor undertook five seasons of excavation at the site of Old Windsor, Kingsbury, Berkshire, England. This was initially done on behalf of the Berkshire Archaeological Society and subsequently for the Ministry of Works. Excavations took place in 1953, 1954, 1955, 1957 and 1958, and covered three areas: Priory Cottage, Priory North Field (primary excavation area, north of Priory Drive) and Priory Middle Field (secondary excavation area, south of Priory Drive).

Project (1953 - 1995)
Between 1953 and 1995, Brian Hope-Taylor carried out excavations, geophysical surveys and post-excavation work at and for the site of Old Windsor, Kingsbury, Berkshire, England. The archival material from this work is held by both Historic Environment Scotland and Reading Museum.

Geophysical Survey (1955 - 1987)
In collaboration with multiple organisations, Brian Hope-Taylor ran a series of geophysical surveys around Old Windsor, Kingsbury, Berkshire, England. In 1955-1956, the Ministry of Works carried out a geophysical survey of Priory Middle Field. In 1975, the Ancient Monuments Lab carried out a small geophysical survey in the Priory Cottage field, and then from 1982 to 1987 Ancient Monuments Lab ran additional surveys in the areas surrounding the initial excavation site.

Note (1980 - 1995)
Starting in the 1980s and early 1990s, Dr Brian Hope-Taylor carried out a variety of post-excavation work on the material from Old Windsor, Kingsbury, Berkshire, England. This work comprises a creation of a context list (titled 'Context Index'), held by Reading Museum, the labelling of pre-existing plans with context numbers, annotated maps and site plans, phasing for key aspects of the site like the Great Ditch, and finds drawings and analysis.
