N56 27.7 W2 57.1

NLO: Dundee [name centred NO 40 30].

Possibly on map sheet NO42NW.

Dundee, 11th Aug. The STRATHPEFFER, Murray, from Calcutta, in proceeding for the Camperdown dock this morning took the ground outside: she is being lightened, and is expected to dock this tide without damage.

Source: LL, No. 16,018, London, Saturday, August 12 1865.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 10827).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. Camperdown Dock entrance lies between two beacons ('lighthouses': NO43SW 90.01) at NO 41374 30409 and NO 41453 30460 respectively.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably accepting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 13 February 2007.
