This skewed girder bridge carrying Lammerlaws Road over the Edinburgh - Perth/Dundee railway is 30.0 metres in length and 7.0 metres in width (dimensions taken from the Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map, sheet NT2385NE, 1964). The steel, rivetted (universal head solid rivets) parapet side-plates suggest that it dates from the opening of the Forth Bridge Railway (1890), although the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6-inch map, Fifeshire, sheet shows a bridge on the same site. There are four corner ashlar paprapet sections measuring approximately 1.60m in height (measured from the present pavement surface). The bridge is currently used by pedestrians only and will be replaced by a concrete bridge and upgraded to carry vehicular traffic. There is a flight of steps 18.0m to the W, descending from the roadway at NT23580 85784 to the car park at The Links. The flight of steps has moulded handrails on rubble walls with two stone newel posts each 0.457 by 0.457 m in plan flanking the foot of the stairs. The walls and handrails measure 0.33m m in width, the moulded 'grip' section of the handrail measuring 0.14m in width. A depression in the upper surface of both newel posts suggests that orignally a ball finial or some other decoration has been removed.
