Archaeology Notes

NO13NW 16 1357 3884.

Information to follow.

RCAHMS (KB) 22 June 2000.

This settlement is situated on flat, low-lying ground on the E bank of the River Tay, about 200m N of Bishophall farmstead, and has been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1984, 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998). A ditch describes a C-shape butting against a shelter belt on the E, which has obscured the E half of what may have been a roughly circular enclosure. In the interior there is a roughly circular palisade set some 8m from the inner lip of the ditch, and this in turn encloses a crescentic cropmark of what may have been a round house. A crescentic marking on the E of the house may be a souterrain. In addition, there is a scatter of pits across the interior and beside the ditch.

Information from RCAHMS (KMM) 7 January 2004.
