Archaeology Notes

NJ02NW 153 00091 26062

The remains of this building are situated in moorland about 400m NW of Easter Laggan farmsteading. Rectangular on plan, it measures 13m from NNE to SSW by 4m transversely over walls reduced to grass-grown stony banks 0.8m in thickness and up to 0.3m in height. The WNW side of the building incorporates a row of at least eight substantial boulders, but much of the ESE side, including the NE corner, has been removed.

The building is not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Elginshire 1874, sheet xxxii; 1905, sheet xxxii SE).

Visited by RCAHMS (AG), 12 October 2006.
