Archaeology Notes

NT36NW 218 32371 67085 and 32377 67095

The only evidence for the railway junction S of the Glenesk Viaduct (NT36NW 171), are the public cycleways which follow the route SE and S. There is no evidence of the signal box which provided protection for the the former short branch (NT36NW 220.01) to Dalkeith Station (NT36NW 211). Both the building and junction were removed following the closure of both the branch and The Waverley Line (1969). The line to Dalkeith is built on the course of the former 'Innocent Railway' (RLY 2).

The routes of the former railways are now in use as public cycleways and footpaths.
