Archaeology Notes

NG82NW 8003 c. 80 25

NLO: Loch Alsh [name centred NG 80 25].

Possibly on map sheets or NG82SW.

Corry, by Broadford, 5th Dec. The TASMANIA (schr.), of and for Dublin, from Konisberg, with oil cake, was put ashore at Lochalsh, West coast of Ross-shire, during the night of 3rd Dec. The tide flows into her at high water, and the cargo will probably be nearly a total loss.

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 14,253, London, Friday December 9 1859.

NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 9769).

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), possibly suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 17 November 2006.
