Archaeology Notes

NO12SE 11.01 16327 20918

There is a fine 16th century beehive-shaped dovecot beside Elcho Castle (NO12SE 11.00).

A N Robertson 1959.

NO 1632 2091. The dovecot is 5.0m in diameter, in good condition with an apparently modern roof.

Visited by OS (R D L) 11 June 1964.

This fine beehive-shaped dovecote has recently been completely renovated and is in an excellent state of repair. It is owned by Captain Moncrieffe, Elcho Farm, but is open to the public.
