Activities

Note (8 June 1989)

In the 1940's, quarrying on the S end of Law Hill (probably on the line of the rampart of the annexe of the fort NO12NE 2, or immediately adjacent to it) revealed the base of a small pottery vessel, a flint scraper and a complete tuyere (NMS EQ 564-5 and CM 40 respectively). The pottery and flint probably date from the second millennium BC, and (despite the possible medieval date that Tylecote suggests) the tuyere may also be of prehistoric origin.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 8 June 1989.

RF Tylecote 1986.
