Archaeology Notes

NT82SW 206 from 81190 22124 to 81185 22052

A small area of cross-contour rig, measuring 70m from NE to SW by 55m, lies immediately S of Elliesheugh farmstead (NT82SW 204) on the moderate E-facing hillside overlooking the Bowmont Water. The rig, which overlies the N end of an area of contour cultivation (NT82SW 207), splays outwards towards the SW, or upper, edge, and measures up to 4m in width between furrows which are about 0.5 wide and less than 0.1m deep.
