Evidence for discovery: found built into the gable wall of a cottage near the Council House in Abernethy in the nineteenth century.

This was a trimmed fragment of a slab carved with diagonal key pattern.

Date: ninth or tenth century

A stone, sculptured on one face with a diagonal key-pattern in relief is built into the gable wall of a cottage in Abernethy, near the Council House.

D Butler 1897; J R Allen and J Anderson 1903.

Not located.

Visited by OS 4 August 1965.

The present whereabouts of this stone is not known.
