NO11NE 26 c. 182 160

A Bronze Age whetstone of quartzite, quadrangular, 2 1/4 ins (57mm) long, from Kirklands, Abernethy was purchased by the National Museum in 1896. (?NMS AL 139)

The whetstone from Kirklands, Abernethy that was purchased by the (former) National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland in 1896 is now held in the Royal Museum of Scotland under accession number NMS AL 94. It has been worked from reddish quartzite ferrous stone, is of slightly curved form and measures 2.25 ins (57mm) by 0.5 ins (13mm).
