Archaeology Notes

NO11NE 18 c. 18 15.

Below Castle Law Hill 'on the south side, we saw, the remains of a Druid temple,'.

R R Brash 1862; D David 1839.

Nothing is visible of the alleged stone circle that is said to have lain to the south of the fort (NO11NE 12) on Castle Law. The 19th century accounts give neither descriptive details nor any information about the exact location, and, given the nature of the topography (in which the occurrence of a stone circle appears unlikely) and the unsubstantiated nature of the claims, the classification of this site must be considered very doubtful.

Information from RCAHMS (JRS), 25 November 1996.
