This reservoir forms a major element of the Balgray Reservoir complex. It has been formed by damming the Brock Burn, and crosses the boundaries between the parishes of Neilston, Mearns and Eastwood.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 6 January 2006.
This reservoir was built 1847-48 under powers of 1846 Act (Act of Parliament, 9 and 10 Victoria 1, c.cccxlvii) and is formed by damming the Brock Burn. The reservoir sits at 90.22m (296 imperial feet) above datum and covers an area of 19.32 hectares (47.75 acres). The reservoir can impound upto 36.5 million cubic feet of water.

Desk Based Assessment (14 September 2015 - 12 October 2016)
In October 2015, Scottish Water commissioned GUARD Archaeology Limited to undertake an assessment of a proposed water pipe route extending from the Water Treatment Works at Amlaird, East Renfrewshire, northwards to the water works at Waulkmill Glen Reservoir (NGR:
NS 48383 44394 to 58250). With an eastern spur extending from Fenwick Bridge to the Water Treatment Works at Corsehouse Burn (NGR: NS 50273 48343 to NS 47428 49936), and an eastern
spur extending from Brownside Farm to South Moorhouse Water Works (NGR: NS 51018 51741
to NS 52555 51301).
The assessment found that there are eight known cultural heritage sites directly within the proposed water pipe route, and a further fifteen cultural heritage sites within the 40m working corridor of the pipeline. It is noted that none of the sites are of particular significance, and none have statutory or non-statutory designation.
A Walkover Survey, Watching Brief and Trial Pit investigation took place during this assessment between 10/09/2015 - 15/02/2016.
