Archaeology Notes

NO10NE 12 17 09.

A charter by Queen Mary, dated at Edinburgh, 5th October, 1557, confirms to Andrew Lundy of Balgony, 'the lands of Pitlochie, with the tower and fortalice' (Reg Magni Sig Reg Scot 1546-80).

"John Kinloch obtained sasine of the lands of Pitlochie from James II in 1447, but five years afterwards they were conferred by the same monarch on Andrew Lundy of Balgony. At that time the estate included Pitlochie, Bordland and Bannaty, and all these were acquired by James Sandilands and united with other estates, to form the barony of Pitlair, by special charter dated 7th July, 1509."
