Archaeology Notes

NS56NE 4877 c. 5689 6638

This small wooden bridge was built in 1900 in preparation for the Empire Exhibition of the following year. It was demolished some years later.

[No published photograph or detailed description].

D Boyce 1996.

This bridge carried a footpath across the River Kelvin within the area of Kelvingrove Park (NS56NE 328) and to the NE of the Kelvingrove Museum (NS56NE 329). The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Govan (to the N) and Glasgow (to the S).

The location cited is derived from the outline plan drawn by Boyce.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 2 December 2005.
