Archaeology Notes

NN59SE 65 5879 9068

A water tank that is covered with an arched concrete vault, 4m x 2m, was recorded during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The tank supplies water to Strathmashie House and local knowledge suggests that it was built some time before the 1940s. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest.
