Activities

Field Visit (27 July 1987)

NO07SE 4 0960 7052.

The remains of three buildings are situated on a N-facing slope overlooking the Shee Water some 840m SE of Dalmunzie Hotel; two lie in pasture and the third is situated partly within a conifer plantation. The SW building measures 13.8m NNW-SSE by 4m over turf-covered wall-footings (0.7-0.9m thick and 0.3m high), and there is a possible entrance in the SW side.

Situated slightly downslope to the NE, the second building measures 13.7m WNW-ESE by 3.4m over turf-covered wall-footings up to 0.9m in thickness and 0.3m in height. There are three compartments and each probably had an entrance in the poorly-preserved S side.

Immediately NE there are the footings (1.1m thick and 0.5m high) of a building measuring 14.4m WNW-ESE by 4.5m overall. Attached to the SW side there is an enclosure measuring 8.3m square within a low bank. Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 27 July 1987.
