HY44NW 12 4355 4888.

(HY 4355 4888) Mound (NAT)

OS 6" map, Orkney, 2nd ed.,(1900).

'A large mound evidently the remains of a fortress or stronghold for the storage of grain. It is not a brough. A solid stone wall encircles the north half of the mound at the foot.'

Name Book 1879.

A sand dune with a retaining wall along the N side, not an antiquity.

Visited by OS (RL) 27 June 1970.
