OS 1:10,000 map, 1977

For Loch Doon, Reservoir (centred NX 49 97) and associated structures, see NX49NE 20.

For Loch Doon tunnel (NX 50221 97438 to NX 52150 97360) and Drumjohn pipeline (NX 52150 97360 to NX 52547 97517) to W, see NX59NW 44.00 and NX59NW 45 respectively.

For Deugh Tunnel (NX 52547 97517 to NX 54583 98366), see NX59NW 46.

Not to be confused with Kendoon Loch, Norh Dam (NX69SW 90.00, at NX 60585 90581), which has also been known as Deugh Dam.

The pre-existing Loch Doon was dammed and the water level raised to form a major element of stage II of the Galloway Hydro-electric Scheme. This structure forms part of the link between the Water of Deugh and Loch Doon.
