Tongland aqueduct, contractor: Wm. Taylor and Son (Glasgow) Ltd. At the W end of the dam NX75SW 37, water is admitted into a short tunnel driven through a rocky spur, and thence into a reinforced concrete pressure aqueduct with a length (inclusive of that of the tunnel) of 3800ft (1159m) and a diameter ranging from 22ft (6.7m) in the tunnel to 18ft 6ins (5.6m) at the downstream end. Beneath a surge tower (NX65SE 86.01) close to the power station (NX65SE 86.00) the aqueduct is formed in steel and divides into three.

Anon. 1934 ['Galloway Water Power Scheme'].

This tunnel carries water for power generation from Tongland Reservoir (NX75NW 78) to Tongland Power Station (NX65SE 86.00). It runs through the parish of Tongland throughout its course, and forms a major element of the Galloway Hydro-Electric Scheme.
