Archaeology Notes

NX08SE 66 08248 82479

An archaeological evaluation was carried out on the site of a former school house ahead of a new development which would see three houses being built on the site. No archaeological features or deposits were found. The area had been gardened and there were demolition debris of a former structure, presumed to be the former school house. Two worked stone objects were also found, which may be oil lamps (possibly Iron Age to medieval). However they were not found in their original contexts as they were found amongst the demolition rubble.
