Archaeology Notes

NO22SE 18.05 centred 2769 2438

The NE dispersal area is visible on RAF WW II vertical air photographs (NLA 68, 3090-3092, flown 27 August 1943), which show that there were three blister type aircraft hangars and two concrete dispersal circles. Four huts are also visible on the photographs.

The taxiways are shown on the OS 1:10000 scale map (1979), but by 1988 (All Scotland Survey, 50788 226-227, flown 10 June 1988), only the cropmark of the northern track that once ran to a blister hangar still shows.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), October 2005
