Archaeology Notes

NO12NE 61.07 15354 27931

The control tower for Perth Airfield is visible on RAF WW II vertical air photographs (NLA 68, 3071-3072, flown 27 August 1943). It is situated about 60m NW of the hangars (NO12NE 61.08).

The photographs suggest that the control tower was a square tower with a lower roofed building to the NW. It is not known whether this building has been altered since the war though it is visible on vertical air photographs taken in 1973, (OS 75 380, 015-017, flown 15 September 1973 in substantially the same form.

A building at this location is depicted on the current OS 1:2500 scale digital map.
