NLO: Thurso [name: ND 115 685]

Thurso Bay [name centred ND 117 699]

Pentland Firth [name centred ND 35 81].

Thurso, 13th Oct. 'The ADERMAN THOMPSON, from Quebec to Hull, ran on shore yesterday, during a severe gale, in Annandale Bay, but is expected off after being lightened.-

Source: The Marine List, LL, No. 7681, London, Thursday October 18 1838.

NMRS, MS/829/71 (no. 7331).

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. The location of Annandale Bay cannot be established from the available map evidence.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 9 September 2005.
