Archaeology Notes

NF75NE 4.08 78969 56553 and 79170 56639

Two half size T2 type aircraft hangars are visible on vertical air photographs taken in 1946 (CPE/Scot/UK191, 4041-4043, flown 10 October 1946), in an area between the N side of the ruwnays and the Bomb store (NF75NE 4.07). The access taxiways and hangar bases are still visible on more recent aerial photography (All scotland Survey 04 87, 155-156, flown 22 May 1987), which show that some more recently built huts and buildings have utilised the concrete bases.
