Activities

Field Visit (22 June 1988)

NO05NE 70 0562 5667.

The remains of this building are situated on one of the terraces which overlook Pitcarmick Loch from the N and NE; unlike the other buildings, however, it is aligned across, rather than along the terrace. It measures 13.5m NNE-SSW by 6.7m over turf-covered wall-footings 1m in thickness and 0.3m in height. The S end of the building appears to rest upon a mass of rubble which is either the remains of underpinning or an earlier cairn. The entrance is in the middle of the E side. On the W side of the structure there are two banks, the date and purpose of which are unknown.
