NLO: Arisaig [name centred NM 66 87]

Sound of Arisaig [name centred NM 65 80].

Aberdeen, 8th Feb [1834]. 'In the West Highlands there has been a succession of gales or hurricanes from W. and S.W. A brig from Sligo, with oats, was wrecked at Arisaig about Monday week. At the port of Scavaig [possibly in Irish waters] some boats have come on shore with several trunks with wearing apparel, and foreign money.' [Report received incomplete].

NMRS, MS/829/71 (no. 6917).

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), and the map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 25 May 2005.
