Field Visit (30 October 1987)

NO05NE 121 075 569

A group of at least seven buildings occupy the same area of heather moorland as the hut-circle group NO 05 NE 19. The buildings are described from W to E.

1. NO 0743 5708 This building is situated on a narrow E-facing terrace; it measures 9m N-S by 5m over low walls which are obscured by thick heather; the entrance appears to be midway along the E side.

2. NO 0752 5704 This building lies immediately ESE of the hut-circle NO 05 NE 19.5 and measures 17m in overall length and varies from 7m in width at the NW end to 5.9m at the SE end. Both ends are rounded and the entrance is a little to the SE of the midpoint of the SW side.

3. NO 0753 5697 Situated about 10m NNW of the hut-circle NO 05 NE 19.6 there are the remains of a building measuring 7.6m E-W by 4.4m over heather-covered wall-footings about 1m in thickness and 0.2m in height; the entrance is not visible.

4. NO 0754 5696 The remains of a small subrectangular building are attached to the S side of a stony bank and also abut the N side of the hut-circle NO 05 NE 19.6. It measures 3.6m NNW-SSE by 1.7m within rubble wall-footings 0.7m in thickness and 0.2m in height; the entrance is not visible.

5. NO 0755 5695 Immediately ESE of the same hut-circle there is a building measuring 9.2m NE-SW by 5m over rubble walls 0.9m in thickness and 0.5m in height. The NE end of the building is rounded, whilst the SW end is squarer; the entrance is not visible.

6. NO 0757 5699 Overlying the N side of the hut-circle NO 05 NE 19.7 there is a poorly-preserved building measuring at least 5.3m NW-SE by 6.3m overall.

7. NO 0761 5699 Situated immediately W of the hut-circle NO 05 NE 19.8 there are the remains of a building measuring 9m E-W by 5.5m over heather-covered walls.
