Thurso, 2d July. 'The SIR WM. WALLACE, of and for Aberdeen, Anderson, from Liverpool NB was run on shore in the Pentland Frith [Firth] yesterday, during a thick fog, and in attempting to make Serabster [Scrabster] Roads, was this day obliged to be run on the sands in Muckle [Murkle] Bay, about four miles Eastward of this place, and has 10 feet of water in her hold.'

Aberdeen, 12th July. 'The SIR WM. WALLACE, Anderson, from Richebucto, arrived today, after being on shore in Muckle [Murkle] Bay.'

NMRS, MS/829/71 (no. 6614).

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary.

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably on account of her successful recovery.
