Greenock, 22d Nov [1825]. 'During a gale on 18th instant, the following vessels were driven from their moorings at the Broomielaw, and went on shore: the MANCHESTER, and MERSEY, Liverpool traders: THREE SISTERS, from Malaga: ROB ROY, from Ireland: and several other sloops: it is expected they will be got off without damage. The sloop JANET, Hunter, of Port Glasgow, from Dundalk, was totally lost off Troon: crew drowned. The brig CHARENTE, McAlpine, from Limerick to Glasgow, was driven on shore near Troon: crew saved. Part of a wreck, and a boat, marked 'BRITANNIA' of Greenock, has been cast on shore at Saltcoats.' [Record received incomplete].

NMRS, MS/829/71 (no. 6449).

The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably suggesting her successful recovery.
