Rocking Stone [NR] (Site of)

OS 1:10,560 map, 1902.

The Rocking Stone of Gilfumman was a well-known, entire object within living memory, according to Jervise, but when visited in 1860, only one informant could be found who remembered it, having seen it 30 years previously. He indicated its site, but there are so many large stones at the foot of the mountain, it was impossible to tell which was the displaced rocking stone.

A Jervise 1853; Name Book 1860.

Formerly OS marginal card (M) 1. No page reference is cited in Jervise [it is p85].

Transcribed by RCAHMS (RJCM), 9 March 2005.
