Nothing is now visible of the boathouse that is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xxix) about 50m SSW of the farmhouse at North Yarrows steading (ND34SW 148). It may have been removed before the end of the 19th century and is not shown on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix).
