Archaeology Notes

ND34SW 395 ND 31866 40843

This grass-grown quarry is situated in a small field immediately W of the S end of Loch Watenan and 90m N of the former station master's house at Lochend. It is dug into the E side of a low rise and measures about 24.5m from N to S by 10m transversely and up to 1m in depth. Living rock is visible in the ragged E edge of the pit, but the S edge appears to have been retained by a short length of drystone wall little more than 0.5m in height.
