Archaeology Notes

NY07NW 46 c. 0014 7941

For Heathfield Airfield (Dumfries) see NX97NE 153.00

(NY 004 791). A pillbox is situated on the E side of the Catherinefield Road opposite the eastern entrance to the airfield.

Constructed of brick and concrete with some vegetation on the roof, it has a sunken entranceway. The pillbox is probably a type 22.

Information from Defence of Britain Project, data form, undated.
