This grass-grown pit, which measures 18.5m from N to S by 7.5m transversely and is up to 2m in depth on the E, is situated on the E side of a stream gully 25m SE of the house at Thrumster Mill (ND34SW 271). The pit is not depicted on either the 1st or the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix; 1907, sheet xxix).
