North Shoal is not noted as such on the 1998 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. The location assigned to this record is derived from that cited by Whittaker.
The name Holm Sound applies to the waters E of Lamb Holm [name: HY 485 003] on the E side of Scapa Flow.

(Location cited as N59 13 .42 W3 34.75). The bow of this vessel lies on North Shoal, 15nm W of Westray Firth. The remains are inverted and lean to starboard, on a seabed of white sand at 65m. There are nets and ropes all over the broken midships section.

[Re-entered as HY03NE 8001 at location HY c. 098 384]. The location cited by Mr Nicholson is accepted.
North Shoal is noted on UKHO chart no 1954 (1982, revised to 1993) in location N59 13.5 W3 35, where it rises steeply to a depth of 18m. No wreck is indicated at the cited location, but a wreck is charted [Wk] at approximate location N59 11 W3 33.

Note : Located by divers in 2002. Unidentified wreck was confirmed by MBES survey in 2005 at NGR 309852E 1037570N. This is recorded in SeaZone Hydrospatial Wrecks point data with a length of 39 metres by 22 metres at a depth of 66 metres, with an orientation of 70 degrees. Wreck is probably the Kingston Turquoise.
