The WW II battery observation post (BoP) for the 12-pounder gun battery is situated about 19m to the N of the most eastern emplacement. Constructed of brick and concrete, it measures about 11m by 4.5m overall and has a canopy over the observation platform.
The observation position is built over the WW I magazine, the blocked up entrance of which is at the W end.

Project (March 2013 - September 2013)
A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
Note
A second magazine dating to the First World War lies to c.40m to the W of the Second World War observation post and earlier magazine. It measures about 14m E-W and 4.5m transveresly. The rock cut entrance passageways have been filled in, would have lead to the western two 4-inch guns (see HY40SE 12.03).
The rock cut entrance passageway to the eastern magazine has also been filled in.
