Activities

Artefact Recovery (2003)

A fragment of carved stone was found on the path on the north bank of the North Esk, near Edzell, after a major storm and flooding. The stone has been assigned by the Treasure Trove Advisory Panel to Brechin Town House Museum (04/03).

DES (2003), 170; Information from M H King, The Meffan, Forfar.

Note (3 December 2004)

The date of the stone is uncertain, but the combination of a ringed cup-mark and a pattern of incised curved lines is reminiscent of the Pictish symbol stone, Littleferry Links no.3 (NH89NW 2).

Information from RCAHMS (IFr, 3 December 2004).
