Archaeology Notes

ND35SE 103.21 3625 5176

A small pillbox, possibly a type 24, has been identified from WW II RAF vertical air photographs (NLA 57, 5076-5076A, flown 21 February 1943) on the W side of a boundary fence about 90m N of the W end of Hill Street.

The pillbox was demolished during the postwar period and its site now lies in a landscaped area within a Training Centre.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), November 2004.
