What may be a small military installation has been identified from RAF vertical air photographs (CPE/Scot/UK182, 4334-4335, 8 October 1946), on the NW-facing slope of Maol a' Choire Bhuidhe. The structures lie at the end of track which leaves the A832 at NG 87213 84875.
A building is depicted at this location on the current OS digital 1:2500 map, which may correspond to the largest of the three visible on the air photographs.

Field Visit (7 May 2013)
Located on the summit of Maol a' Choire Bhuidhe, to the E of the A832 Poolewe to Aultbea road is a light anti-aircraft battery. A metalled track built for the battery leads up from a public carpark to the summit of the hill. The summit is occupied by a circular platform made of hard core on which the light anti-aircraft gun was placed. To the NW a laid path leads to a small stone and concrete platform which may have been a hut for a generator. Impressions in the concrete base suggest that a brick wall stood around the edge of the platform. To the NE of the gun platform is a path, on either side are concrete stumps or posts on which two wooden huts or buildings were constructed. The path continues, leading to a concrete hut base which was identified as a toilet block. A further structure, possibly a magazine, lay to the N along the same path.
