Archaeology Notes

NO01NE 57 NO 05083 16201

Noted by Tolan as one pit-circle and a possible second.

M Tolan 1988.

Aerial photography has revealed the cropmark of a possible ring-ditch, measuring approximately 10m in diameter, 124m SSE of Green of Invermay farmsteading. Although Tolan (1988) interprets this cropmark as a pit-circle consisting of eleven pits, on recent aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1995) the boundary appears uninterrupted. Cropmarks of an enclosure, possible pit-alignment, rectilinear enclosure and pits have been recorded in the same field (NO01NE 54, NO01NE 65, NO01NE 67, NO01NE 73 ).

Information from RCAHMS (KB) 17 May 1999

Scheduled with NO01NE 55, NO01NE 65, NO01NE 67, NO01NE 73 as Home Farm [of Invermay], enclosures.

Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 15 March 2000.
