Stranraer, 9th Jan [1838]. 'A ship or barque is sunk off the Ebbstone: her royal masts are above water.'

Stranraer, 10th Jan. 'The topmast of a sloop, supposed to be from 40 to 50 tons (and not the royal masts of a ship or barque, as stated yesterday) was discovered above water off the Ebbstone, and has been brought here.' [Record received incomplete].

(Classified as sloop: no cargo specified, but date of loss cited as 9 January 1838). Unknown: this vessel sank off [the] Ebbstone, mast tops above water.
