Archaeology Notes

NT58NW 121 5244 8504

Very many ring ditch cropmarks visible on 1974 aerial photographs across entire extent of golf course. These may have been caused by filled in bunkers or by underlying sand dunes, and require further investigation before being confirmed as a major cropmark site. B758 953-4 12/6/74.

Site recorded by GUARD during the Coastal Assessment Survey for Historic Scotland, 'The Firth of Forth from Dunbar to the Coast of Fife' 1996.

The former position of a cattle feed bin has been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photography (RCAHMSAP 2000) lying about 170m SW of Invereil House. Further amorphous cropmarks, which may be geological in origin, can be seen in the field.

Information from RCAHMS (KMM) 13 August 2004
