Archaeology Notes

NH54NW 152 centred 5283 4540 and 5314 4516

A small camp has been identified from postwar RAF vertical air photographs (58(A)421, Pt.3, 5136-5138, flown 21 June 1949) within Dunballoch Plantation to the S of the River Beauly. The small Nissen hutted camp is on the NW side of a minor road with further huts spread over an area to the E of the road. Some of the larger huts/sheds in the eastern section are depicted on the OS 1:10000 scale map (1988).

It is not known if the two groups of huts was for military purposes or a logging camp.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), August 2004
