Archaeology Notes

NN94NE 2 9648 4659.

(NN 9650 4653) A cairn situated on the summit of Elrigg Mohr near Steuartfield is composed of stones, comparatively small and unlike any in the immediate neighbourhood. It has been plundered in the past but apparently nothing has been found.

T Hunter 1883

NN 9648 4659. At the E end of the summit of Elrick More is a cairn, c. 18.0m in diameter and between 1.0m and 2.5m high. An apparent turf-covered stony bank around the perimeter is probably overgrown tumble as there is no trace of a kerb. A modern shelter has been built into the SE side while a small modern cairn has been erected on the top.
