Archaeology Notes

ND35SE 103.18 c. 3649 5299

A possible type 24 pillbox has been identified from postwar RAF vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK70, 4006-4007, flown 9 May 1946) immediately S of the Bomb Store area ND35SE 103.03) on the northern perimeter of the airfield.

The pillbox has been noted by the Defence of Britain Project (UORN 13613, A Gutteridge, 1985, plan and section), which has recorded an 'octagonal pillbox' of concrete and brick construction in this area.

Information from RCAHMS (DE), July 2004.
