Publication Account (1998)

Further down the High Street, on the same side, modern shop frontages belie the late eighteenth-century origin of nos 122- 126 High Street. The two upper storeys, however, with their regular windows, reveal the classic style that must have been typical of many houses lining Dalkeith's High Street.

A number of properties on the other side of the High Street also have eighteenth century origins. No 41 High Street has a modern shop frontage at ground level, but retains original features in the two upper floors. Nos 101 & 103 High Street, likewise, are three storeyed and were constructed in the late eighteenth century. Their ground floor frontages are of late nineteenth-century design, but the windows in the upper floors reveal the typical regular fenestration pattern of the late eighteenth century.
