(NN 9831 2886) Stone Coffins found (NAT)

OS 6" map (1959)

These coffins were found in 1855 by Mr Taylor and Mr. Mitchell while digging for gravel, they were about 4ft 9ins long and contained mouldered remains of human bones.

Name Book 1864

No trace of cairn or coffins (? cists) was seen at this site which is situated at the south edge of a depression (? old gravel pit) in a newly ploughed field. No additional information.
